I recently purchased the entire Mythical Realms collection of fantasy figurines from Safari Ltd., and since many of them appear in my Savage Realms gamebooks, what better way to show them off than by also sharing an excerpt.

This little snippet is from Balance of Fate: The Legorian Kings Saga…

After a time, the terrain begins to change quite dramatically, with the way ahead becoming more and more difficult to navigate with each passing moment. The path itself has all but disappeared and you quickly find yourself having to circumvent geothermal pools and small, but scalding hot geysers as you make your way across a now volatile and unpredictable landscape. Clearly a dangerous hotbed of volcanic activity, you begin to wonder if it would be wise to even continue moving forward. It is what you see next that immediately makes you regret that you did not turn back when you had the chance.

Not even ten paces in front of you is a shallow, bowl-like depression in the earth with three large, oval-shaped objects inside of it. With a shudder, you realize that you have unwittingly stumbled upon a nest, and judging by the size of the eggs, it must belong to a creature of considerable size!

You are about to turn and head back the way you came when suddenly, the eggs begin to rock violently back and forth. Even as you are watching in horrified fascination, several winged, reptilian-like somethings burst from their shells, each one advancing towards you hungrily on all fours…
